This special evening is tailored to our filmmakers from 2023, 2022, 2021 to spend time with a truly talented film producer and educator. Richard has exceptional insight, experience, talent and the passion to share the art of film.

Richard N. Gladstein, a filmmaker and educator, is the executive director of the Feirstein Graduate School of Cinema. He is two-time Academy Award–nominated film producer, founder and president of the production company FilmColony, and former dean at the American Film Institute (AFI) Conservatory.

Most recently, Gladstein produced Quentin Tarantino’s 70mm western The Hateful Eight, his fourth collaboration with Tarantino, after serving as executive producer of Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, and Jackie Brown.

Gladstein’s two Academy Award nominations for Best Picture of the Year were for his films The Cider House Rules and Finding Neverland. He also produced The Time Being (for which he also co-wrote the screenplay), The Bourne Identity, Paper Man, Killshot, Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium, She’s All That, The Nanny Diaries, HurlyBurly, The Crossing Guard and 54, among others.

Prior to the formation of FilmColony, Gladstein was executive vice president and head of production at Miramax Films, and vice president of production and acquisitions at LIVE Entertainment.

Gladstein frequently leads master classes and lectures about film producing and the entertainment industry. He also served as the Marion Knott Filmmaker-in-Residence at the Chapman University’s Dodge College of Film & Media Arts.

He is the recipient of awards from the National Board of Review, Critics’ Choice Awards, Broadcast Film Critics Association, and two Boston University Distinguished Alumni Awards. In addition to his two Academy Award nominations, Gladstein has been nominated for awards from the British Academy of Film and Television Arts,  the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (Golden Globes), and multiple Producers Guild of America (PGA) Best Producer of the Year awards.

Gladstein is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, Producer’s Guild of America (and former of its board of directors for eight years), Leadership Committee of Creative Future, and the Board of Mentors at University of Southern California (USC) Peter Stark Producing Program.

Gladstein serves on the board of directors of the Jewish Genetic Disease Consortium and Bloom’s Syndrome Association, and he is founder and president of the Bloom’s Syndrome Foundation.
